............compared to Conor Oberst (AKA Bright Eyes)'s rock side project Desaparecidos.

I find it staggering that, even among Bright Eyes fans, Desaparecidos' debut "Read Music Speak Spanish", possibly the most fantastic record released this year, is completely overlooked in favour of the dirge-like whiny accoustic trash Oberst makes under his Bright Eyes guise.

I have always hated Bright Eyes, from the moment I first heard them (almost). However Desaparecidos utterly captured my heart: Oberst's ragged voice just sounds so much better against a furious punk rock backing than it does with the terminally dull Bright Eyes... a tragedy indeed...

SO: fuck Bright Eyes and buy the most brilliant record you will have heard all year!
