Subject: She felt her own heart fall as he dismissed her with a cold handshake. She supposed this was the end for them- not even a glimmer of hope for them even as friends. He would leave a hole in her that she doubted she'd ever fill. "I hope we work things out one day Ry,... I really do... your the only person that I could ever see myself marrying... but when... if... I want to know its because your the perfect guy for me... not because you were the first and only guy for me...."She chewed at her lip and hestitated a moment, her hand still in his, leaning up to brush a tender kiss to his cheek.   • His withdrawl had nothing to do with not caring - he doubted there would ever be a day in his life when he didn't love Lacey, but it was more to protect himself. He was more than ready to slink away and lick his wounds and she was rubbing salt in them with her words. He stiffened a bit when she approached for the kiss, but endured it, his hand resting in hers limply until she finally let it go.
