Subject: The hurt that she felt on new years flickered in her blue eyes as she pulled back, but she didn;t meet his gaze, just turned away and headed quickly for the back door. She didn;t know how she had expected him to react, but he seemed almost robotic, withdrawn- and it just made her feel all the more guilty. She closed the back door behind her and jogged back down to the stables, heading straight for Spencers stall.

  • He had fully intended on retreating and leaving her behind but she beat him to the punch and he could only stand, dumbstruck, and watch her go. What else was he supposed to have said to her, congratulations? He sighed a bit, waited until he heard the door close and then headed straight upstairs, straight into his bed.
