Salt Of the Earth Tournament Rules

Player Credo
"I will observe the spirit of the war. I will uphold and roleplay the storyline. I will fight without malice or anger. I will not taunt my fallen foe nor will I take offence should I die." (TOW)

General Guidelines

These rules are based on the Terms of War and all participants in the SoE tournament should be familiar with the TOW. If a rule is 'left out' or a dispute occurs about the rules it is upto the discretion of the SoE official/s to hand out a decision, which will be based upon the TOW, fairness and common sense. The rulings declared by the SoE official/s is final.

There is to be NO obscene language or offending remarks to any persons involved with or in the immediate area of the Tournament. Note, "I was talking to the NPC" is not a valid excuse. However in the spirit of the event, friendly and non-offensive remarks may be made to other rival players/guilds even to SoE officials BUT any over the top remarks will receive a warning and if persons or guilds persist they will be expelled from the event.

There is to be no talking within earshot of the duel for lag reasons (persons Dueling may speak but any attempts at Spamming will result in an immediate disqualification)

The moving and/or destroying of props and equipment which has been placed by SoE, This is purely for the atmosphere, Please don’t wreck it.

All Tournament Duels will be held in the designated area, at NO time is there to be any friendly or unfriendly combat outside the dueling area.

Most importantly this event is aimed at having fun and should not be taken too seriously. Try to roleplay as much as possible and enjoy yourself and the atmosphere!

General DO NOT's

Loot (Players must not even look inside a foe's corpse). Looters can be found by using the forensics skill, if an item is looted and you come up on forensics you will be held responsible.

Receive things form the crowd (ie extra bandages or more reagents).

Tournament Rules

- No Combatant is to be mounted for the entire duration of their Duel (including Ethereal mounts).

- All duels MUST remain in the designated area, If at any time during the combat a player leaves the dueling area they are automatically disqualified.

- The beginning of the duel is signified by the center referee, He/She will cast invisibility on ONE of the other referees, as soon as the He/she disappears, Combatants may precast spells / equip themselves etc. Then the center referee will hide the other referee and as soon as they disappear, players are free to move in the designated area as they wish etc, (it has to be done this way because Wall of Stone cannot be cast in town guards).

- There will be three referees, A center referee which will be visible at all times and two hidden referees, This will ensure that all tiles in the dueling area will be seen by two or more Referees.

- There is a time limit on duels. A One on One duel has a time limit of 5 minutes, The Two versus Two event has a time limit of 8 minutes and the Guild event (4 versus 4) has a time limit of 12 minutes. In the event of the duel finishing due to time expiring the winner will be decided on aggression, control and technical skill (ie spell combinations and use of weaponry, The group events will also be judged on amount of survivors at the end and how well the team worked together).

- A standard Knock out system will be employed with an additional duel for 3rd and 4th Placing

- No one is to have ANY spells or affects active before the duel (ie Reactive Armour, Magic reflect or Bless…etc) This will be tested prior to all events!

- The duel will not stop if a combatant runs out of supplies or if their equipment breaks, It is your bad luck. Note: SoE or your opponent/s will not be responsible for any items lost or damaged (Using Dragon Armour or Valorite Armour is not a good idea against Macefighting..)

- Teams in the 2 on 2 event do NOT have to be in the same guild, your team will be given a coloured cloak to signify the different teams.

- The Guild event (4 on 4) MUST be made up of members of that guild - No exceptions! You may however compete with 3 members if a team member has to leave, Note: This will be the last event held on the day and team composition may be changed, but all changes must be referred to an SoE official.

- You may voluntarily surrender in any duel at any time by saying “I surrender” or “We surrender” where applicable or simply run out of the arena. (This is so people who wish to retain their fame can do so).

- All contestants MUST be warring ALL guilds participating in the event on the day. (A full list of participating guilds will be issued 1 week prior to the event) .

- The victor of each duel MUST resurrect their fallen foe as a sign of respect. Those who fail to do so will be disqualified. If the victor does not have sufficient skills to resurrect, they may ask a SoE official to do it for them.

- Duels will have a one minute preparation period AFTER the names of the persons taking part in the immediate duel have been called (to a maximum of three times), If still the contestant/s are not present they are disqualified. Note: Players will be informed 5 minutes prior to their duel that they are next.
