*Okay, before Max and Grim kidnap me again, I am a GLR.

*To me, Glory was the scariest and best villian.

*The introduction to Dawn.

*Tara became far more prominant, and I loved how well Amber played insane.

*Intro to Warrn.

*HOT INTERN! I mean Ben.

*The return of Drusilla.

*I liked Xander's long, lanky haircut.

*Joel Grey! OMG, an icon of Broadway in three episodes!!!

*The best episode ever, The Body, plus many many many other very good episodes. (Buffy vs. Dracula, Real Me, Family, Blood Ties, Weight of the World, The Gift...and lots of others.)

[> A tie between One and Two. -- wwolfe, 11:53:03 03/02/05 Wed (161.149.63.106)

I love the freshness and camaraderie among the main characters, and I appreciate even more now the relative lightness, as compared to the later seasons, in Season One.

The Buffy/Angelus story line in Two was probably the peak of the entire run of the show, and the ending of "Becoming, part Two" was unbeatable. (In some part of my fantasy life, the show ends with the shot of the "You Are Now leaving Sunnydale;" after that, Buffy wanders the Earth. I'm not sad the show continued, but that would have been a mind-blowing finale.)

Three would probably rate even with the first two seasons, if not for the on/off/on/off, etc. relationship between Buffy and Angel. That was the one weak point in an otherwise great season.

The college-era show had strong points about each season, but none moved me as strongly as the first three seasons did, start to finish.

I agree with you there...I loved the whole Angel/Angelus storyline.

Ditto.

I think the comraderie of this board kept the seasons (after three) interesting to me. Plus the West Coast Review.

[> Season 2 and 3 -- Kuzibah, 08:30:28 03/03/05 Thu (12.175.117.195)

For different reasons.

S2 because they never had a villain as awful as Angelus. I mean, think about it, here was a guy who knew all about them, who they'd trusted and loved, and suddenly he's without a soul. And Buffy is indirectly responsible. That was a bar they could never reach again.

Though they really came close in S3. Faith: Again, a betrayal from within, but this time from a very human well of pain and jealousy. And with that wonderful creation, the Mayor, as her mentor and surrogate father, a dark mirror to Buffy and Giles.

Great stuff.

[> Season 3 -- sophie, 21:43:48 03/05/05 Sat (160.39.153.40)

Has the most episodes that I LOVED. Also adored Faith, Oz/Willow, Xander/cordy.

Seasons one and two are very close behind.

[> Season 2 and 3 trade off. -- Mo, 11:21:09 03/11/05 Fri (161.114.64.75)

In fact, the first three seasons kind of work together as one broad story. Seasons 5-7 do the same thing, just it was a story I enjoyed a LOT less.

I'd have to say that when Season 2 was firing on all cylinders, it was some of the best tv I've ever seen. Season 3 was probably the most consistent in terms of overall quality for me, but Season 2 had the more watershed moments, and a whole clutch of my favorite episodes.

But Season 2 also had Go Fish. And Killed By Death. And that Frankenstein episode.

It's a toss-up.

[> Seasons 1, 2, and 3 -- Mcookies, 11:47:49 03/11/05 Fri (66.28.244.34)

for me are all linked together as one loooong season. They were also the most carefree years in the sense of not having to have the more adult responsibilities come in. I also feel that certain storyline issues in Season 6 dragged on longer than necessary, where they didn't in the earlier seasons. Plus, I've never been a big Dawn fan.

[> [> I agree about the dragging thing -- Kuzibah, 10:51:15 03/12/05 Sat (68.80.18.137)

One of the things that surprised me when wwolfe sent me all of season 2 was just how *few* episodes had Angelus. I mean, he was only evil for eight episodes, and in two of them he wasn't even the focus, so that arc really moved along. I think in later seasons, when Joss was less hands-on, there was a feeling among the writing staff that they should have arc-driven seasons without remembering that the earlier arc were much shorter than season-length.
