I remember the orphanage on the left side as well. I stood watch in the guard towers overlooking the orphanage many times. I also recall an ARVN compound to the rear (as you face the beach) and a Marine helicopter base to the right. I remember the German hospital up the beach as well. The nurses would come out to the beach to sunbath. I saw them and took photos, but I think the photos are lost. I don't know how far the China Beach Main PX was up the beach.
