Subject: gotta love those frenchies

So, the mayor of paris accuses the British Olympic bid team of underhand tatics.... since when has lobbying been underhand????

Jacque Chirac states that London cant possibly win the bid, considering their cuisine is about the worst in Europe, only Finland is worse??????? whatever that meant

I was so glad that Tony Blair refused to get into a slanging match about it - he coulda ya know

and

I should imagine that 24 hours later, there was some rather deep regret about those 2 astonishingly bad losing Frenchman's statements

typically of the UK, we lose well, and we win well

France could learn some lessons from this, though while that egotistical tosser Chirac is running the country, I doubt it will happen

Finally, thanks to the American vote, we won the games. without their votes. i believe Madrid would have won.... Paris may shout the odds acusing the UK of deals with the US and crap like that all they like...., and blame that on why they didnt win, but I will say back to Paris, if u look at the voting rounds, I have no doubt Madrid, not paris would have been successful, should the american vote not come our way

They are so so full of themselves

If you ever get chance to see the presentation video the brits did for the games, then do it.... its just great - prolly be somewhere on www.bbc.co.uk

Note

Apologies to any french ppl that come in here, but ur leaders suck

I was really looking forward to the photo's of Chirac eating some haggis at the G8... sorry he got upstaged. Glad to hear you're okay, btw.

The "Tale of 2 Cities" olympic upset was pretty interesting news over this side of the pond; however, not as controversial as the upset at the Dancing with the Stars finale on ABC. I'll give you what, that Kelly Monaco is one fine looking size -2; but she moves with the grace of a 3 legged frog.

Nice to see you again Petey. We may come visit you for the Games.

Ah, what do you expect from a nation with 200 kinds of cheese! There is always some high drama and skullduggery associated with the IOC. They are used to being pampered and courted (maybe they are not cheese lovers). Congrats on the Olympics, and sorry to hear about the bombings in London yesterday.

Chirac's comments were to say the least very undiplomatic, if not offensive, crude, arrogant and just plain wrong, not to mention rude and ignorant.

Inasmuch as I admit Madrid would have been my favourite to host the Olympic games, I was more than happy when I heard London's bid was successful.

I hope that the G8 leaders gave monsieur Chirac a proper tongue lashing for his remarks. And I also find the French to be haughty and condescending.

I'm not the slightest bit offended by what you said. Even if French is my mother tongue, I am NOT French. I am a Canadian as both sides of my family have been here since the 1640s. A good look at my complexion leads me to believe I may have some "native" blood in me. I even have a couple of drops of Scottish blood... my great-grandmother on my dad's father's side was Scottish.

It is also believed my bloodline may also originate in the Leeds region of the UK. (Think we could be related, Pete?)

In closing, I sincerely hope that no one in your family or anyone you know were anywhere close to the bomb blasts... My heart goes out to everyone who had to live through that as well as any of the rescuers

Chirac really put his foot in his mouth this time huh... anymore and i'm gonna start calling him the duke of edinburgh

out of interest, Tony Blair was cleared of underhand lobbying for the games.

while chirac was on his arse eating frogs legs as opposed to fish and chips........ tony blair had 23 meeting in 1 day in Singapore

Mr Chirac.... a word please....

Mr Blair is a busy man, you know.... fighting a war on terror with mr bush... you know.... the one you couldnt be arsed helping with...........

Why dont u go play golf or something with that asshole mayor of paris.... maybe mr schroeder will make up a 3 ball... then u can leave the grown ups to do the real work

Foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

lol
