Subject: Nugget detecting?

Anyone ever detected for nuggets in SC. I know they closed down the Kennecot mine a couple years ago and I am sure it is off limits to everyone but it proves that there is gold in the area. I was thinking of walking along some creekbeds at my hunt club (we have 800 acres under lease in southern Union county) and see if I can come across some nuggets. Course I may have to get a Fisher GBII or Tesoro LST or some other gold machine since I don't think a Cortes is the right one for that sort of hunting. Does anyone have thoughts on detecting for nuggets here in SC? Thanks!
