Subject: A gentleman's bet?
In reply to: snotty 's message, "Go Away Bucs" on 08:44:08 01/22/03 Wed

hmmmmmmmmmmm

Well, I normally do not bet on my teams, because I want my cheering to be from the heart and not my pocketbook. However, since this seems to be a heart-related bet, I think I can accept that. Bucs will win. They are underdogs, but it is in the cards. Gruden is phenomenal at making game plans from film, but in this case, he is a bit more familiar with the strenghts and weaknesses of the opponent than normal. The Bucs are determined, with veteran players and fans who have not been worthy or have been denied too many times in the past. They will prevail.

The Bucs did not play awful all season. They had a few games that were less than stellar for sure, but they developed into what they needed to be and are peaking at the right time of the year. Considering it was the first year with a new head coach, Gruden had a lot of attachments to Dungy to overcome in developing his offense and carrying over the best of the Dungy defense. To get it together by the end of one season is a huge accomplishment in itself. (Kudos to the Raider head coach as well.)

I'll take the W/L bet, but I pick the Bucs 27 - 17 over the Raiders. I'm also going to go out on a limb and betting that when Tampa does win the Super Bowl, there will be no rioting and burning cars in our streets. (c:

/me ponders how you will look in your new pink taffeta uniform.
