Since I used to live right there in Montgomery County as well as on Connecticut Avenue in D.C., I am pretty obsessed with the news on this one. Basically, that's all I watch when I am home.

The whole thing freaks me out whether it's a homegrown kook terrorist or some sort of new phase in the War on Terror against us. I am aghast at 'facts' like the military plane ever being released to the public. There are times that I think the 24 hour cable news coverage actually plays into the hands of those who wish to capture the limelight, as the media flushes out every angle of a story often tipping our hand right into the view of the monsters among us. And, I often consider how in theory we should not alter our lives (school, work, shopping) in the face of these freaks, or we will only open ourselves up to further emotional blackmail. Yet, as a mom, all common sense seems to go out the window when you want to protect the child you love above all else.

It's a scary awful world we live in. And, I pray daily that this transitional time to a greater world peace and awareness will be as brief and painless as possible.

I'd like to teach the world to sing...
