I'm catholic and I went to public school for most of my life except for 6, 7 and 8 when I was sent to catholic school.

In public school we stood and recited the Lord's Prayer before or after O Canada. Not sure which. heh I remember that one person in our class would not stand or recite the prayer during that time period though.

I just don't see what the big deal is though. If someone's religion doesn't agee with "under God" then why not just do the same thing? Just not recite that particular phrase or even the whole thing?

Each religion has a "God" of some sort don't they (except for athiests, right?)? Why not interpret the "under God" as "under [insert your God here]"? lol

Am I way out there? lol I'm still half asleep, so I'm not sure this all made sense. heh

There was recently an outcry about something in O Canada. Some group was all up in arms about this particular line of the anthem: "True patriot love in all thy sons command." They wanted it changed to reflect women too. *shrug* It doesn't make one bit of difference to me the way it is and I'm a woman. heh

Now because of this pledge thing down there, that probably means that there will be an outcry about singing our anthem in schools now because of this line: "God keep our land glorious and free."

sheeeeeeesh.
