Block Letters
The LEGO toy model building block has achieved international acclaim as one of the most highly successful, widely beloved, and intellectually stimulating products ever conceived. The LEGO Company that manufactures these famous plastic bricks has also received its share of accolades, earning the title "Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen" in 1986 and having a nine-act opera recounting its corporate history composed and performed in 2000. Yet, the word "LEGO" has surprisingly humble origins. (While the term means "I study" or "I put together" in Latin, these translations are mere coincidence.)
What is the origin of the word "LEGO"?
I'll try to remember to post the answer tomorrow or Thursday. :)
