For those of you interested in resuming organized team play, the status of Team Acro is posted below. Regardless of your playing status prior to May 1, if you are interested in resuming organized matches with other TA teams, let me know, and I'll work up a schedule for 2002. When TA Tournaments are offered once again, I will continue to sign us up and ask for volunteers to represent us, or more than likely, hold in-team competitions to see who will be playing. I need to know who besides Menny is unable to access AcroChallenge at this time. Soon, we'll put together some =poet nights out= or some of our infamous theme parties, whether we choose to play an organized match or not, as there is no one I'd rather be playing this game with than =you=.

Time for a Team Acro update, major update even:

1. Flipside's Acrophobia will be offline until sometime in 2002. No dates given, nor anticipated. Those of you holding out for this game to come back may want to explore other options.

2. Private Acro rooms (thanks Joe!)are still around. Some teams have them and offer space to play with other teams. Not all teams have the technical know-how or connection ability, however, to host them. If your team is interested in one of these fine rooms, you can contact Joe personally or, if you don't know what I'm speaking about, contact me and I'll put you in contact with him.

3. Acrology (http://www.acrology.com), which was subject to a great deal of heated discussion and anticipation, is now for sale mid-development. No updates on whether a buyer has been identified or the future of that game. Acrology still recieves the acro_council mail traffic.

4. Acrochallenge (http://www.acrochallenge.com) is up and running in beta mode and the creators update the program as bugs and issues are identified. These folks have been more than happy to listen to our requests for changes and seem willing to try to accomodate us to make the game more team friendly. I'm not sure how much of the stuff they will be able to implement nor how fast, but at least we're going in the right direction there. These folks have also been added to the acro_council mail list.

5. Acronyms-Chit4Chat (http://camkab.com/c4c/)is another acroformat that is currently being developed. We've been contacted by the developers and they would like to get our input for their game development as well. They are in the process of getting their game server online and collecting people who would like to serve as beta testers. If you're interested, go to their site and sign up. Once the game is available for download and play, we'll collect feedback and send it in. We're in the beginning stages of communication here, so they haven't been added to the acro_council group
yet. I'm waiting to hear back from them to add them.

So, this brings me to the next big hunk of news... well, decisions actually. Most of you know we were wiped from Cases Ladder a few months ago due to inactivity within the group. For the time being, we will remain off the Cases rosters. This is because TA will suspend the keeping of winning statistics indefinitely. This decision is has not been an easy one to come to since so many teams in the past have favored us keeping statitstics previously. But due to many (potential) game formats with different rules and different scoring structures, the svailiblity/inaccessibility to some players and the fact
that some teams may choose NOT to participate in a particular game format/venue offered, I just can't see a simple or equitable way to provide that service.

Does that mean TeamAcro is remaining on hiatus? No way. I think that AcroChallenge and Joe's private rooms are now widely available enough to start holding matches once again. Team captains/schedulers can resume booking matches as they like now that we have a stable place to play again. I'd simply caution to get very specific with the rules setups- especially AcroChallenge with the way scoring is accumulated- and to discuss details thoroughly so there's no confusion mid-game.

Will TeamAcro be giving awards? Since TeamAcro has suspended statskeeping, no awards based on stats will be given. The Yermama MFT award will be issued, beginning in January and will be based on responses submitted by team votes as it has been in the past. There should be a modified MFT voting place on the new TeamAcro site in the near future. We will also be looking for other peer-issued, much like the YMFT)awards to issue in place of stats-based ones. These awards are yet undefined, and we're quite open
to suggestions for topics!

Will there be TeamAcro-wide tournaments like the Clash of the Clans?

TeamAcro-wide tournaments are temporarily suspended until sometime early in the new year. TA tourney directors will have an organizational meeting to discuss adaptations to new game formats, which game format(s)/venue(s) to use for TA-wide events, frequency of TA-wide events and other general tourney issues. Any team captain also wishing to give input on the topics will also be included.

The old TeamAcro calendars are defunct, where do I write match bookings?

As it stands right now, there are no rooms that need to be booked for reservations. Private rooms are run and managed by individual team captains. AcroChallenge, currently the only working widely available format/venue and its rooms are 'created on the fly', so a reservation calendar really isn't necessary. However, I will have a calendar up soon on the website to be used as more of an organizational tool for captains. I think it will still be useful- especially if captains can decide things like the "room on the fly" name ahead of time and list the match rules specifically for team mates to check out.

Okay, I've given you a lot to digest before Thanksgiving, but I think it's good. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to all those celebrating!

DustyOne/Team Acro
