Time's wind blows backward, I see the beginning,
Our very first house-cat, happy hearts he was winning.
Answering a "classified", brought fur-ball our way,
With a handle like "Sparky", that little tabby could play!
But, missing in action, Sparky slipped into the mists,
His tom-catting likely put him on some hit-list!
When seen no more, the void reoccurred,
We HAD to go shopping, "Find a cat!", was the word!
A friend from the country had one kitten too many,
Pure white in color, yes, we would take any!
Our family now rounded, little "Frosty" brought smiles,
Played with our little ones, one of us, all the while.
After years numbered fifteen, kids turned to adults,
Frosty's passing, closed hearts, so like steel vaults.
With nest, oh, so empty, we needed new furry face,
Our answer would soon come... no loneliness, no trace!
A tail-less kitty? I said, "What the heck!"
The last of a litter, yep, no tail... We checked!
She zipped here and there, like someone had boot her,
A name was so easy, we just called her "Scooter"!
So nice to be writing, with Scooter on lap,
That spritely fur-ball, content in deep nap.
She follows and guards us, no move left unseen,
The last in our "cat-tale", an answer to dreams.
