I wrote this poem right before I went to sleep on the night of September 10, 2001. Little did anyone know that life was really on the verge of fading to dark.

WHEN LIFE FADES TO DARK

We've all got a side
that hides our inner pain.
It fills like a resevoir
with our tears like rain.

Nobody knows the full
anguish in our hearts...
Shaky words in journals
reveal when life fades to dark.

Can I lean on you to make it through
this night that never ends?
Will you stay with me, not pity me
even if you doubt we're friends?

I'm sorry I can't tell you all
what your love does mean to me.
For I am lost to this blinding fog
of fear and uncertainty.

Maybe, one day, you'll know
the full pain in my heart.
Because I can feel myself drifting
further into the dark.
