He was about to continue on with his little mini lecture before he looked down ad saw the tears in her eyes. He let out a soft breath at that, his brow furrowed as he gazed over his shoulder. "Awe, come on now, don't be doin' that shit..." he groaned, clenching his jaw as he shifted his weight anxiously. He could face a man holding a gun pointed at him but a girl crying? He was at a loss there. Turned him into a whimpering little kid, he just didn't know what to do. "I am not sayin' you should be stayin' locked up in the house or anything like that shorty, I am just sayin' a bar probably isn't the best place to be takin' the kid you know?" He bit his lip, offering a slight, teasing smile just to get her to get rid of those tears that were threatening. "I mean, I was planning on waitin' till the kid was at least sixteen or something to give him his first beer..." He didn't mean to make her cry, he was just protective of her and the kid and while it was ok for him to be in there it wasn't ok for her to be there. "If you wanted to get out you coulda told me, I woulda taken you to the movies or dinner or something...you wanna go to the movies? We can go to the movies." He just didn't want her to cry, he'd go see a fucking ballet if it meant those tears wouldn't make it over her dark lashes.

She braved it up, pulling a little face and letting out a long sigh. She did her best to will the tears back into her head but one escaped and when it did, her lip trembled a little bit, but she immediately bit down to stop it. Swiping at the tear almost angry at it for having escaped she put on her best smile. "I just wanted to dance.. and now I have.. so I'll go home." She pulled his jacket around her a little tighter. The girls would be looking for her but she didn't much care right now. She couldn't decide whether she was humiliated or grateful for him looking out for her -- she felt, though, most of the time, all he thought about was the unborn child, and of her as merely a vessel, not an actual person, but she was overreacting as she had been as of late. She was beginning to act a bit more like a normal teenaged girl, much to his and her own chagrin, dramatic and teary. (NT) -- Astrid, Wed, Jan 18 2006, 7:09pm PST
