• Coincidentally, he wasn't too far from where she was - finishing up dinner in a little restaurant across the street from where Lysia used to work. He was learning not to bother trying to forget her and everything she had ever done and everywhere that she had ever been. At first it had just been easier not to think about her at all, but as the healing process progressed, he was coming to terms with the fact that she was gone and was never coming back, but she had been a very important part of his life for the short time she had been with him. When his phone buzzed in his pocket, he had a just deposited a forkfull of food in his mouth, but answered anyway - grunting a 'hello?'. He was along and so didn't care about answering the phone while at dinner, and was just about to swallow - so if it was anyone important who he should be practicing some proper phone etiquette with, he would be able to redeem himself. • "Hey baby, wanna come and protect little old me?" She questioned playfully. "It's gettin' dark and I've been told by a very protective friend of mine that when it's dark, thats when the crazy people come out." She grinned, shifting to sit down on the bench and throw one leg up on it, stretching out absently with a yawn. She was warm enough in the ski coat she was wearing over her tattered jeans and long sleeve, v-neck cashmere sweater, the soft blue color bringing out the golden flecks in her dark eyes. • Before he even knew it was happening, a smile lit his features at the sound of her voice and he swallowed quickly before responding. "Hey babe." Pushing around the last mouthful of food left on his plate, he waved over his waitress for the bill, but didn't get up just yet. "Always. Where are you?" While he waited then for her response, he took that chance to finish off his food, and reached for a sip of water, then left some cash on the table and stood slowly - tucking the phone between his ear and shoulder so his could pull on his jacket. He always liked hearing from her, and was always game to spend time with her, so there was no hesitation in his voice as he pushed out into the cool air - the temperature had dropped again over the last couple days, just when he had thought that it was starting to feel like spring, winter had returned. • "I am in front of that one bar your always going to, the one on the boardwalk." She stated, shifting to tie her shoe and then stand back up. "Where are you at? I think I would be up for maybe a beer or something..." She was in the mood to be out for awhile if he was up for it but if he wasn't, which sometimes he didn't feel like being out and about, she would be good with lazing about with him in her room or at his apartment too. His long strides carried him quickly down the empty sidewalk in the direction of where she would be waiting. "I'll buy you a drink..." He agreed easily, and then turned the corner and crossed the street and she was in his line of sight, so he murmured a quick 'hang on' and flipped his phone shut and slipped it in his pocket as he covered the last couple paces in silence. Slowing to a stop in front of her, a small smile touched his lips briefly and he dipped his head to kiss her cheek. "Hey..." She questioned softly, playfully teasing before she slipped her hand down to entwine their fingers. "Come on, sweetie, you can buy me a beer. You have to pick it out too cuz I am not a big beer drinker." She grinned lightly, heading into the quiet bar with him. "Did you have a good day? Anything exciting?" She questioned, genuinely curious about his day and how it went. She was always honestly intrested in what was going on in his life even though he would wait days to tell her something big that happened just becuase he didn't think to share things with other people most of the time. • "So full." He groaned playfully and rubbed his stomach with his free hand before leading the way in - holding the door for her and then guiding her over to the bar. He gave her fingers a gentle squeeze and said a 'hey, how's it going' to the 'tender, who was already pouring him a double scotch, and ordered a beer for her. Smiling slightly as he glanced down to her - there was something oddly attractive about a girl who drank beer. "It was uneventful... Just worked for a few hours, then got cleaned up and came out here for dinner... I was going to call you." He felt bad when she called and he was just hanging out by himself and he could have called her first - but he didn't want to always be harassing her. "How was yours?" "My day was boring as usual, my life is so montonous." She stated before she grinned, sipping on the beer to make sure she liked it before she took a long drink. "This is good, I like it. " She stated before she looked over to him, watching him for a second. He really was such a good looking guy, there was no lying that she was attracted to him. Her hand moved to squeeze his leg lightly, gazing up at him adoringly. "Hey, wanna have a sleepover tonight? • He just smiled a little at her as he settled onto the edge of a stool and pulled her to him. "Sometimes monotony is better than too much drama..." He pointed out with a wink, his fingers sliding slowly up and down her back - just trailing lightly. But too much monotony wasn't really great either - it wouldn't be that much fun if every day was always exactly the same. His hand paused at the base of her neck and just squeezed there gently, his head ducked a little so that they could converse easily over the music - which wasn't too loud thanks to the low-key atmosphere of the bar - and other conversations going on around them. "You talk to Joey lately?" She questioned, she'd been busy with exams the past week and hadn't had a whole lot of time to go visit for a few days. She just liked being with him so much and she could feel the attachment and attraction growing everytime they hung out but she was afraid of rushing him. • He loved that she was so easy-going, yet not indifferent or a pushover at the same time. Nodding a little, he reached for his own drink and took a sip before responding. "Yeah, I met him for lunch yesterday..." No matter how busy they got, he still tried to see his friend every couple of days, or at least talk to him to make sure everything was going okay. His eyes dropped to her hand for a moment and his jaw clenched and unclenched as he leaned forward to kiss her temple sweetly, his hand sliding down her back to her hip to pull her gently closer to him. • "Good, good... Everything go okay?" He smiled a little as he watched her - he had been a little surprised to find himself feeling proud like he did whenever she talked about school. She was so good at everything she did, he just felt lucky that she had taken a liking to a guy like him. It was hard to say where he would be right now if she hadn't come into his life when she did - things were pretty rough there for a while, and there were still some dark days, but she just brightened everything up without even trying too hard. He smirked a little and dipped his head to press another lingering kiss to her cheek as his fingers gave her hip and gentle squeeze, thumb tucking beneath her top to absently brush the soft skin just above the waist of her pants. She stated softly though the majority of her senses were focused on the way his fingers felt on the sensitive skin of her hips. "Yeah..yeah exams went good, no problems that I know of." She was on a full ride due to being a ward of the state but if her grades dropped so did her free ride. He much preferred to avoid all that sort of stuff, but Joey was a good friend of his and he didn't mind dealing with in for as long as it lasted. His eyes shut lightly at her soft fingers on his cheek, and he just exhaled a content sigh - as if to confirm her observation that he was relaxed. It was a good day - nothing extraordinary going on, but it was just a normal, safe, easy day, and he was happy to be ending it with her. "Of course they went well. You're such a smart girl." • "You're shameless." He teased her quietly, and then smirked a little, his hand brushing slowly up and down her spine again. "Yeah, you have been. I've been really feeling neglected lately..." He admitted playfully and winked before reaching to finish off his drink easily, and then nodded a little. "Yeah, he took one. Said he'd called in the spring about taking another too maybe." It was a real bonus for him to be able to sell his work as artwork rather than sanctioned projects - and it was a nice break in the monotony of painting houses day in and day out. At her request for the fries, he nodded a little, but then changed his mind with a slight shake of his head. "They do, but their kitchen is so slow... We'd be here for hours. Why don't we pick something up on our way home? Do the drive-thru thing..." He suggested with a slightly raised brow - besides, the bar was a little questionable itself and he wasn't too sure about letting her eat something that they produced here. • "Sounds good to me." She stated, tapping her foot against his leg absently to the music as she sipped on the beer, drinking about half of it before she pushed it away. "No more..." She wasn't a big beer drinker to begin with so one and a half tall glasses was quite a bit for her. "You ready to go get me french fries? Did you drive out here?" She had still yet to get a car or license for that matter, she just didn't see the point in it, it was just an extra cost. Sure, the bus wasn't all that safe sometimes but she was usually pretty careful and most of the days she was content with walking. • "Alright, sounds good." He commented as she called it a night on the drinks, and shifted slowly off his stool, pausing for a moment to press a lingering kiss to her forehead. "Yeah, I drove... Let's go get you your food." He drove pretty much everywhere - spent all day, at least five days a week, on his feet, and so walking wasn't high on his favored activities list. Pulling his jacket back on, he left some cash on the bar for the 'tender and waved a quick goodbye before turning his undivided attention on her. He held her coat open for her to slip into, and then linked his fingers through hers to lead the way out - it was a little more crowded in there then than when they had arrived, so he went ahead of her to 'clear a path'.
