1. Do you enjoy playing at JBTH? Why or why not?
I LOVE playing here, it's my own personal getaway from the world where I can let my imagination run wild, and if I am having troubles in rl, then I know I can come here and talk to people about it. Or, if I don't want to do that, I can become any one of my characters and forget all my problems. I’m sure there’s more, I just don’t know quite how to say it
2. What first caught your eye about JBTH? What made you want to play?
Actually I wasn’t much of a comp person until my friends made this game where you owned horses when I was in 6th grade, but there were no message boards and there was only a few of my close rl friends who played there. Then they joined here, and introduced me to rpg. I had no idea what I was getting into, and I didn’t even know how to join, so I had my friend join for me as Spring’s Sweet Beauty. I joined because my friends joined, and I had a love for horses.
3. Has that attraction dimmed? Has JBTH lost the spark that first got you interested?
Since I was only interested because my friends always talked about it, I’m not sure what the spark was. I just remember going to the main message board, seeing the background (at the time it was a red farmhouse with a couple horses grazing) and being amazed by how many people from all over the world played there, and how cool it was that people could come together and play in this amazing game and be so close without even knowing each other in rl. Of course, I was relatively new to the net at the time, had just gotten an email address and im, just figuring out comps, so it seemed much bigger then, but I don’t think the attraction has dimmed very much. It is still a lot like it was when I first joined over 3 years ago.
4. Why do you think JBTH has lost so many members? Is there a way to fix this problem, in your opinion?
I’m not sure why so many people have quit. I’ve read that a lot of members go too old for the game, but I remember once that there was a college student posting at a herd at 2:00 in the morning because that was all the time they had left for the game. That might’ve had a bit to do with the problem, and that there haven’t been any new members replacing them. Also, there were a lot of people playing a lot of characters, so when they quit, they took a chunk of the JBTH population with them. JBTH has been through a lot, when the person took over JBTH when it was on dencity it caused a lot of confusion and I think that some people just never got the address to the new site. The one thing I can think of to help fix the problem is advertising, and I do remember a lot of simple backgrounds changed on the MMB, like the stars, which was nice because it was a simple black with a bit of style. Of course, I realize that you do have a life, so I’m not expecting that you do that.
5. What boards do you visit on a regular basis? What boards don't you use at all?
I visit all of my horses herds regularly, and the joining board, watering hole, and ooc board (even though I rarely post, I just keep up on the news and what’s happening). I check the foal’s playground sometimes because I happen to run it, but no one ever goes there anymore. I don’t use most of the member boards because either A) there is no one there to run them. Or B) nobody ever posts so I figure there is no point, but maybe if I posted, somebody else might, too
6. What is, in your opinon, the worst thing about JBTH?
The worst thing about JBTH…probably the inactive members. I play 29 horses (including foals who stay with their moms), and only 11 still have herds (still counting foals). I haven’t joined a new horse for a long time, I keep re-joining old ones. And when they finally get a herd, the stallion/mare disappears or quits. I can’t think of anything wrong with the game itself.
7. What is the best thing about JBTH?
The sense of community. It also, as I have found over the years, helps with creative writing skills, and you can pick up on words and increase your vocab.
8. Do you think everyone has a part in reviving JBTH? Should JBTH even be revived?
Of course JBTH should be revived! Everybody does have to do their part though because if one person tries to be really active, and people don’t reply to their messages, then it hasn’t done any good. Also, if we wanted to advertise, I know one time somebody made a picture to advertise JBTH. If everyone could advertise at one site every time they got online, then after a while we would have reached a lot of people.
9. Please say one nice thing about JBTH. Do I have your permission to quote you on that? [I'd like to use real opinions whilst advertising. I think they make JBTH seem more real.]
JBTH is a great place to come and get away from life. There are no limits to what you can do here. (go ahead, quote me…it’s kinda corny…leave me alone)
10. Any other comments, suggestions, anything you want to say?
I think I’ve tried to fit in everything I wanted to in the other questions…hmm…I don’t think I left anything out(but I haven't read anybody else's responses yet, so I probably will remember a whole bunch of stuff that I wanted to say after reading them. Just know that I will generally agree with them)
