I really hope this doesn’t offend anyone, but I have to say it! It is becoming very common for a mare to come into a herd (uninvited) and ask if they can join; be lead, beta or so and so. You used to absolutely never see that, but it seems to be getting more and more popular.
Right, how can I put this simply? Oh yeah – I hate it!!! It drives me absolutely up the wall! I don’t have anything against the people doing it and don’t want to start a war here, but it just gets on my nerves.
Half the fun of playing a stallion is choosing mares who kinda “fit the story line” or the background of that particular character. It’s fun sifting through all the new arrivals and pegging them as ones that you might like to invite to your heard. The fun is taken out of it when a mare turns up out of the blue on your herd board. You lose the plot and often end up with a mare you would not have chosen. If you play a mare(s) and are having trouble being invited into a herd, try using different personalities or change something about your characters. Not everyone wants exactly the same type!
The other half of the fun for a stallion and/or mare is the meeting! In some cases, it can take months just to “get to know them” on the joining, mmb, you name it! It’s one of the best opportunities to use your creativity and eloquence. It’s the base to their entire storyline in the future. When the mare suddenly shows up on the board, it seems to me that you’re really missing out on something.
Sorry, I just had to get that out.
