I agree with you totally. The ancient Celts had, at one time, a tribal culture and many of their beliefs and even certain celebrations were very similar to those of the Native Peoples here. Their entire life revolved around not only what was best for their families, themselves but as the entire tribe itself. The Druids functions and responsibilities towards the tribes were much the same as the medicine men here.

The came the Romans. Like the white man coming to America, they took everything the Celtic people had. They destroyed their culture, their religion, killed nearly all of the Druids and put an end to the tribal way of life in order to make the Celts more "civilized".

Then what the Romans failed to accomplish, the Christians finished off. They killed the last of the Druids, forced conversion under the threat of imprisonment and/or death, built churches on top of Celtic sacred sights.

A thousand years later the Europeans, former tribal Celts, did the same here to the the Native People. They forgot their own past and became what, at one time, they feared and hated. Unfortunately man has not changed.

The ancient path is what all of us need to remember and return to in these days. If we do not I fear that we along with Mother Earth will not survive.
