Subject: Gift of Discernment

I have Ojibwa blood. However, being mostly white and raised in a Chritian family, I have had my father and elders in a church I attended as a child tell me I have the gift of discernment. I can read people very well. But here is the question. I can also read animals very well. I am not part of the Christian faith anymore, and I am wondering if my gift is not from the Christian God, but from my ancesters? I have been spiritualy hungry and want to become a part of Native faith. I am ignorant to Native beliefs. And after all Christians don't beleive animals have souls. Why can I read them just like humans if my gift is from the christian God?
