Subject: wannabe

I'm disappointed in the rudeness I find on the internet in my native search. Unfortunately I did not grow up in my heritage (Cherokee) because being Indian was worse than being black when my father was growing up in the white man's world in Georgia. He has passed on now and I am trying to learn my grandmother's heritage. Every where I go I keep seeing the phrase "wanna be" and how rude people are, it hurts. All I "wanna be" is who I am and in order to do that I have to learn and ask questions, but true teaching is limited. If you don't come from the reservations, then no one accepts you. I don't pretend to be someone who grew up in their native culture. However, I would love some sound teachings, but those doors seem to be closed. I'm afraid of the people that "sell" their teachings because it doesn't seem right (A Lakota friend warned me early on to stay away from these types of "shaman" teachings).

Any help you can offer would be appreciated. I just pray daily that the Creator keeps me on the right path in my search and that I will not be led a stray. I also pray that the Creator forgives those that are so full of malice and hate. These rude people are acting no different than the people they hate. I guess I'm just a "wanna be" trying learn my heritage but I am trying to live right in a world that is so disrespectful by all colors and races....

My Lakota friends have opened their hearts and share their knowledge, but I have not met any Cheorkee in the Georgia/North Carolina area willing to do so.

If you have any advise or places I can visit, I would appreciate the info.

I mean no disrepect,
