Subject: Will you let all Life Die to keep your Spirituality to your self!

Boozhoo, Grandfathers, and Grandmothers,


I am one of those that has no means of proving my ancestory. My heart is saddened this day because I see the end. What a paradoxical world we white people live in? We are told, if we don’t change our way and return to the Earth Mother all life will perish. We are told we must make the decision to respect the Creator and all His Creation by changing the path we are on. But with out our grandmothers and grandfathers who can remember the path we must take, we will not see our way. Our grandfathers and grandmothers no longer remember. We are told that if we are not born into Native American Spirituality, then we will never be apart of it and we should stop using it. The Spirituality of the white race has been suppressed for two thousand years. Christianity, and the other “world” religions has suppressed any teaching other than their own to the white race for so long, we no longer have anyone who can remember the old way, the ceremonies, the clans, the tribes, and the medicines of our people. WE ARE DIEING. If the white race of people die, the circle will be broken. All life on Mother Earth will cease to live here. I cannot change what the Creator made me; He made that choice before time began. I have trouble understanding why the color of my skin, makes my heart unable to learn. Does it matter in what language I pray? Does it matter, what words I pray with? The Creator hears my heart, not my words. If I raise my arms up to the Creator the same way you do, are you right and I am wrong in His eyes? Because my skin is white, did I come from a different Mother Earth? Because my skin is white, are the trees, rocks, rivers, the Little people, and the Star people not my relations also? Is it not the same Grandfather Sun I see each morning, and the same Grandmother Moon I see each night that you see? When I went to the great Medicine Wheel in the Big Horn Mountains and felt the Power it gives, was it not meant for me because I had white skin, because I was not born “Indian”? I was told being “Indian” was not a color. But if I was not born a special color, I can not be “Indian”? I have let the spirits of my ancestors dance in my body so they can once again feel what it is like to dance in the Circle!
I hear us called Europeans when we are talked about by the Native Americans. I did not come from Europe. I was born from Turtle Island. I came from the Illinois along side of the Rock River. The same ground you came from. I am native to this Earth Mother. I breathe the same air you do. I admit, I am an oddity in the white world. There are allot of white people who think as I do, but I am not in a majority. But no fire was started in the heart without the Creator giving the first spark. Change cannot happen if action is not taken. I saw the first breath of life given by the Creator in each of my children. I have taught them to respect all Elders, the Creator, Mother Earth, and all our relations. But I was on a path taught from the Elders of your people. Now my children are following my footsteps. I will not tell them to get off the path because; your people made the path. I will teach them to walk with respect were others have walked before and the children of those not yet born are waiting. I will teach them to listen with their heart and not just their ears. I will teach them to dance, and sing to the heartbeat of Mother Earth no matter what words are used. I will teach them they are not a color, but a human, a Creation of the Great Spirit, a strand in the web of life no greater or lesser than any of His Creation, a place on the Medicine Wheel. I will teach them to make decisions on their own, but to do so with the good of the whole in mind. I will teach them to give. I have never told them they are Indian, but I will not tell them they cannot live the path they choose. I will not let this life die because of a past that cannot be changed. I have heard your people cry “We are still here”, and I thank the Creator for that. I will listen to the Grandfathers, and Grandmothers, no matter what color they are. I will learn as a child, what needs to be learned. I will be new, because I search the center of my being to hear the ancestors that still live there. But, why should I stop being human because I am white? Why should I turn a death ear to the teachings of your Elders if you really want us to change?
I will still start each day by offering tobacco with a Prayer to thank the Creator for all He has given me, up until the day my body feeds Mother Earth, and my Spirit is set free of the bonds of this world and I walk with the Sky People. Something tells me color won’t matter there. The Creator will show me the path I must take, right or wrong in any one else’s opinion.
