Dear Amy
You might want to check out a book called lessons from turtle island-native curriculum in early childhood classrooms by Guy W Jones and Sally Moomaw. Its for younger children, but has a great foundation for how to end sterotypical views in children and what is appropriate and what is not. Guy is Lakota and has children of his own. Also you might want to try to go directly to the nation for info., since each nation s culture is unique. I've found its the best way to get accurate info and it helps to have a member of that nation to substantiate that what you are teaching is accurate. As for what my main ideas, feelings and facts would be if I was doing it, my main ideas would be to show the correct past and present culture in the most respectful way, I would feel it to be an honor to do so and very important to finally get the truth out and I would stick to the facts as the nation presents them. I hope I have been of some help. Good Luck.
