Subject: How will we feed them

According to tradition, the people will come. All of us with one drop of native blood in us will find our way back home. I keep having these dreams and so do many others of being motherly, ready to feed many children and having too many to feed because there are too many hungry babies and not enough nursing mothers or milk to feed them. I have corresponded with three spiritual women who have had the same dream on the same nights, and we are miles (states) apart from one another. There is another where there are people in a food line waiting to be fed and those who have the food are guarding it telling the ones in the food line that they are not good enough to be fed. It too is out there among many people. The smell of rotten food permeates the nose when we wake up screaming.

I put this out there and wish it to be spread far and wide. "How shall we feed them?"

The doors from our elders are shut, circles closed, and they have drenched themselves in potificatory traditions that they disperse to those they like and sit in judgment on the others like white preachers in a pulpit calling down the ones he likes, standing up the ones he questions. They rage against each other over kinds of baskets to be woven or beads to be beaded, who has a card and who does not. They smile to the face as they stab the back of the ones in their families and say they love them while speaking ill of them when away -- "venting" which is white. Tongues are only bitten until the person is out of sight. Then they wag. Everyone is fair game, and no prayers are said really, but old verses spoken like scripture as familiar incense is swung back and forth. And where did we learn that?

Our people are coming and we have to feed them. I pose this. Given the state of our spirituality, how shall we feed them?
