Since i'm older, i don't feel them the way i used 2 when i waz their age. Not 2 disrespect them, cuz i think they are okay, but i think they are pretty weak compared 2 the way young artists used 2 be. Another Bad Creation waz hip-hop/r-n-b that had commercial appeal and some kiddie lyrics, but their production waz great. Their 2nd album waz a step in the right direction (i wish they kept recording). Then there waz Da Youngsta's. These kids had crazy flow and rapped over beats that Fresh Prince, L.L. Cool J, and Grand Puba would have been flowing over at the time. Production did alter just cuz of their age. Kris Kross waz dope. Like Da Youngsta's, KK had Jermain Dupri hookin' them up with beats that more mature emcees were flowing over. The 1st album waz straight up Hip-Hop with different flava, then the came back with this rugged, more street edge that waz still legit. However, at their ripe age of 17 the dropped their lyrically weakes album. They were writing more 4 themselves but they feeling in2 alot of the money and sex type of stuff. Illegal waz a nice shot in the arm 4 young kids on the mic...ha ha. They came off with this crazy hardcore flow. How many kid emcees came off with an explict lyrics sticker on their 1st album when they are only 13...ha ha. Tho' some of their music waz a bit fake, they still had some good rhymes and flow. They had dope producers like Eric Sermon making them just like EPMD. Jamal can now be associated with the Flipmode Squad and Malik held it downon that Monica joing in 1995..and a song with Warren G. Most of these young emcees even wrote part of their music at young ages. Even 1996's A+ came off as one of the best young emcees. I just think that 2days younger emcees are put out their 2 just make money. I like the way they keep positive images and keep their music clean...but so much of their image seems 2 play off of their age. The younger emcees when i waz growing up broke away from that better. 2day's young emcees often have a sound that is kinda kiddie. I wonder if they'll fall outta site like ABC, KK, Da Youngsta's/Illy Funksta's, Illegal have. A+ still has a chance and i guess Jamal is still around...and Kris Kross still pops up at Hip-Hop events saying they'll do another album (it's been years). What are your all's views???
