am in the process of reading (very slowly)Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

Angels and Demons is actually the prequal to the DaVinci Code. As I was reading DaVinci, I have to admit, I REALLY grinned most of the time. It was such a slap to the poor Christian population, oh my goodness, Christ was a MAN...who might have actually "HAD" Mary Magdelane and it was Her that was the Oh So Cherished Grail? (let alone a child a rumored to be a girl!)
What a creepy wilderness that book must have been for the staunch christians.

I thought is was very clever for Dan Brown to use DaVinci and written history like he did. This whole book is based upon fact with a bit of conjecture thrown in. It's all one point of view of the facts melded together with some adventure fiction and a very badly done romance.
I didn't really realize that alot of the Book was indeed fact, Davinci being pagan, the Priory of Scion etc,AND that he used names that really do exist dealing with this "grail" subject although not in their true roles in history until I started reading Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln, who are historians that researched this information in extreme depth, so much depth it's taking me while to get through the book, it's very factually convoluted.
Angels and Demons deals with the Pope, the Vatican and the secrets they have been hiding from the world to protect the Christian doctorine. I thought it was a great read also.
I'd read all three if you really want a clear picture of what Dan Brown was trying to get across. Jesus was married to Mary Magdelane, who bore a daughter and the Priory of Scion (a real and secret society) who have kept the bloodline alive through out time since.

anyway...there'my take on it!
