I guess I don't interpret the witch's pyramid's, "to be silent" to mean that we shouldn't share anything at all. i take it to mean that we should be cautious and discerning in what we say and with whom we share things, most specifically anything of a deeper nature of our craft and certainly magickal knowledge isn't something we dispense lightly or without responsibility. I do not see folks such as those running sites, pubications or radio programs, like the witch's voice, for instance as being in opposition to the directive "to be silent". They don't go around posting on other sites trying to convince, or argue their beliefs with others. I see no conflict in answering someone's sincere questions if one is comfortable doing so. But I also, even if I am "out" to someone don't share everything and I try to be very intuitive about what and who with to share anything that is magickal knowledge. Just as with anything else, I think it rational and self-protective to have people earn my trust in any situation.
Soooo....in reagrds to educating oneself on other religions, it is actually unnecessary to reveal one's own beliefs, unless that is your choice. There is plenty to read both in publications and online as well as radio and TV info! In regards to people seeking to know about wicca or paganisim, it is a good and appropriate thing that there is plenty for them to delve into in the same regard (the pubilcations, on-line sites, radio and film). I think one of the key differences is that our religion does not advocate our trying to solicit others to join our beliefs, nor do we condemn others for having a different faith.
You know the "skinny" .....as long as you harm none, do as you will!
hugs!
