the village of Boscastle in Cornwall has been hit by flash flooding of upto 15 feet in places. The sad news is that the museum of witchcraft is in Boscastle and contains many of Doreen's, Alex and Maxine's, Gerald's and even Alistair Crowley's artefacts. They also have a library of virtually every published and non published craft books, it has been estimated that the library houses something in the region 20k books plus and covers an entire floor of the building. We were told that many buildings have begun to collapse as a result of the ferocious flood water and many people in the village are still missing. Rescue workers and the coastguard are on full alert and the RAF has been called in to help airlift people to safety. The problem is exasperated at the moment as Boscastle is in the height of tourist season so the total number of people missing may not be known for a very long time. I've asked T and yourself to spread the word around as they are asking for as much magical work to be done as possible to help.

Anyhow the following email has just been sent to me and I thought I would pass it on. Speak to you all soon and if there's any major news I will telephone to let you know.

Dear All

We have just received another update from a member of Museum staff who is not in Boscastle but is nearby and has been able to get some news.

As far as we know, all the Museum folk are safe (Goddess be praised). Graham is out with the Coastguard who will have a pretty desperate time tonight as there are still people missing and in danger. As far as we know the two other staff (Keriann and Carole) who were on duty at the time got upstairs and are also safe. Hopefully we will get more word of them soon. We have a good friend in the regional media who is in touch with correspondents who have satellite phones (the only thing working at present) who is doing his best to keep us updated.

Its way too soon to even think about what state the Museum is in but the report we have says there is four and a half feet of water in the ground floor but the building is still there. Compared to the horrific destruction in the village (whole buildings gone) that is encouraging, but its unlikely that anyone will know any more detail for a good while.

All services in Boscastle (phone, email, power etc are down) so there is no point trying to contact anyone; we have to wait for news as it comes in. Cassandra and I will do our best to keep you posted.

Please could everyone who can get weaving on a magical level, both for the Museum and also for local people. Please could you also pass this on to anyone who needs to know.

Yash
