I don't know of any herbs that help with quitting smoking, but there are a few key factors to make it a lasting change, and it applies to all habits one wants to change.
As Dreamy says, Can you see yourself smoke free? Being able to see the desisred results is an important part of making it happen.
Another is to substitute other things in its place. This is also a behavior you wish to change. To eliminate the behavior (lighting up and puffing away...) to be sucessful long term, there needs to be something more desireable in it's place. I actually smoke less when I am working on crocheting a blanket, because my hands are busy doing something else. Is there something that you are interested in doing or learning that makes use of your hands? This can help. Also, when I go out for a coffee with one of my parrents, we choose the "no-smoking" section, and their cars are "non-smoking" areas.
Another thing that may help, designate a "non-smoking" area of your house. Begin with one or two rooms, and after a pre-determinded amout of time, add another room or area to this "non-smoking" list. Here, in my home, The bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and attic are Off limits to a lit cig. The time I spend in these rooms are smoke free times.
Do you usually drink coffee with the smoking? Cut back on the coffee by drinking more juice...Do you light up after dinner? Get up and do something with your hands instead of automatically lighting up. It Does help! Think of it this way, it is hard to smoke if one is doing jumping jacks...lol.
These are some of the things I have done to cut back on smoking. From someone who was up to 3+ packs a day, it is doable. When I got down bad with the flue and respritory prob....I went down to about two for the whole day...Proves we can move away from smoking. Which remimds me, thinking it is a horrible taste can also be helpful. When you do light one up...think a few minutes...what does it really taste like??? Does it taste like an ashtray? ewww. (ever had a stale one? lol)
The only thing really standing in the way of me quiting for good is me, and for me, it is not an issue of smoking or not smoking there is a different underlying issue. Take pause for a momemt and check if there is an underlying issue that may need some attention. Understand that some other things may rise up while getting smoke-free.
Blessings,
Crystal
