No arguments here. Self confidence is a trait of "Star performers" in all walks of life. This is often misconstrued as arrogance and they have to work at diffusing that perception. I think (biased or not) Burton does this very well and have heard others (casual or non-fans) comment very positively after seeing him interviewed. But as you mention, at his level, he's up for scrutiny by every facet of the media and it only takes one jerk with a community college journalism degree (please note I specified jerk) who thinks they're a music reviewer to affect someone's career.
And you don't get the kind of overwhelming response as seen at the Genie Awards from an albeit entertainment industry crowd (but not music)unless you've earned the respect of your peers and your fans. Be your own reviewer. SDOSB(stepping down off soap box)

I don't mind someone being a little cocky, it's whether they are considerate of others and you can be both at the same time.

Speaking of cocky, have you ever noticed pilots? I have a friend who used to fly navy jets and land them on aircraft carriers. He definitely is cocky, but he's a good guy.
