Subject: Guess Who albums in quad
Does everyone know that every Guess Who album in the 1970's except Bannatyne was released in quad format? Some of these albums had different takes of the hit songs. They are rare but worth searching for.

I have BC's first solo in Quad, and there are some interesting variations, and "You Ain't Seen Nothin'" has completely different vocals.

I also have that one in Quad. The fade out on Stand Tall is completely different as well. Despite the pops and clicks of vinyl, I must say that I prefer listening to the quad album over the CD. The sound of the quad album, even on a standard stereo, is unbelievably ambient.

>>> Quad might be great but I "relocated" something even greater...a big box of my old 8 Tracks from the late 60's- early 70's...includes many GW releases (have an extra "Flavours" for any audiofiles out there), a couple of BC, and a couple of BTO. When we were "kids", 8 Tracks were the only way to go...Can hardly wait to locate an 8 Track player to play this stuff in my '69 ragtop...the way this stuff was meant to be enjoyed...

I always appreciated that 10 second interruption in the middle of the song while the 8-track switched tracks.

My girlfriend (same one who talked to Burton on the phone once) had #10 on 8 track. I kind of remember "Cardboard Empire" being split.

Maybe these alternative LPs explain Doble's appreciation for Power & Flavours. His copies must sound completely different than those owned by everyone else.

I don't think Flavors is such a bad album, some great tunes
and because it was the first GW album I bought, it still has a special meaning to me. About Power I'm not so sure, Dreams is a great song, but the rest of that album is not so good.
About those GW in quad, few years back I saw quad versions of Road Food and #10 in a used records bin but didn't bought them, I've been kicking myself ever since...

>When The Band Was Singin' Shakin' All Over

BC at his rockin' best
Dreams
Loves Me Like A Brother
Pure Guess WHo Burton
Power In The Music
harks back to 10's Just Let Me Sing with it's big band style influence
I wish The anti-Troiano club would just forget, for an hour and a half, that he plays on these records and just listen to the tunes.

BUS RIDER has totally different ending vocals by Burton on the QUAD version. Other neat effects were Kurts solos on THREE MORE DAYS literally went spinning around the room, the ending of HANG ON TO YOUR LIFE had "YOUR LIFE-YOUR LIFE going in one direction and the music in the opposite! Its cool, oh yes I have 2 quad 8-track players and a Zenith 4 channel amp/reciever to still enjoy them to this day...anyone have any quad tapes for sale?
