Wow, what a beebopping, rollicking good time of a song. Constantly find myself going back to it and getting immersed it in. Love Burt's scatting and Jim's drumming. Have others been affected the same way?

I like the bridge on this one, "you have changed my style, knowing all the while, I would thank you for it someday"
And we do, Burton, we truly do!

Yes, the 8:15 bridge is superb. Reminds me of "The journey is plastic..." from When Friends Fall Out. Burt seems to have a knack for these. How about the amazing bridge in Hoe Down Time, "No use hiding or running away..."?

And don't forget my favorite from Broken, "I don't have to fear, nobody else is here. I don't have to see, I know what I wanna be. I don't have to make an explanation to you. And it's true the deeper the driven goes, shows how much the best of the better knows, that's why the bird with the broken wing never flew. And I've been broken too, just like you"

"Pleasin for Reason" has a good one-"Shoulda stayed in bed this morning.." "Power In The Music".."then four boys made a brand new noise from far beyond the sea..." Of course, there's "too many mountains & not enough stairs to climb.."
How about "Hi there, starving asian child, bloated belly & look of despair. I'd love to help you but I've just got to make it to Paris for the unveiling of the latest fashions..."?

Of course Garry's drumming. Don't know where I was with that. Maybe thinking of Kale.

Perhaps that's what Kale would have us believe, just as he would have us believe that his travelling troupe of troubadours is the Guess Who.

I'm glad the Jim/Garry thing got cleared up. Garry does'nt get enough respect as it is. To be mistaken for jim is borderline insult!!

Burton's scatting is the best and where he really stands out. Love Get your Ribbons on scatting the best but does great on so many songs.
8:15 is a great song. "What time of day can you meet me?.. at 8:15!

I still listen to the whole American Woman album regularly; 8:15 is one of a bunch of tunes that still sound great, over 30 YEARS LATER! Proper Stranger is another favourite...hey AW, I'm old enough to remember TGW being on
the CBC in the 60's...they used to "sneak" original tunes onto the program...was Proper Stranger on one of your tapes
of the show? I'm sure either it or 8:15 was done on the show, but the mind does funny tricks over time....that CBC
series was quite a motherlode for talent...Anne Murray was
on the Eastern (Halifax?) segment in one of the years; there was a Vancouver show one day, and a Toronto show on
the fourth day. Can't remember if it was on on the fifth day
of the week. Each of the different shows from each city was
quite different, ...Toronto was a soul/ blues sound, Halifax(?) was more of a folk/country feel, while Vancouver was a bit hipper/psychadelic, and of course Winnipeg was TGW. All top 40- type shows but different "feels" to each. These are somewhat "faded" memories of a young kid (back then).

Poor Garry Peterson, as far as I'm concerned, one of the greatest drummers in all of rock history.. to be confused with that IDIOT Jim Kale (gawd... I have the same first name.. I'm gonna shoot myself!)
