Subject: For Burton -----

Hey Burt, I just received the "For The Fans" CD and I must say I am blown away. Your rendition of "Mack The Knife" is the best I have ever heard. Absolutely brilliant! I know that at the core of this CD, you're the one who wanted us to get this stuff. Sort of a "From Me To You" gift for all of us who love and admire you so much (I am one). Let me say to you: Thank you very, very much for thinking of us. Thanks for being you. God has given you some extrememly rare talents, an ability to move people beyond mere words. I certainly am one of these people. I heard "Everything Happens To Me" for the first time and was almost moved to tears. The only other artist to affect me so deeply and at such a profound level is Brian Wilson, a genius if ever there was one. Burt, you have a rare and special gift. Keep sharing it with us. I personally feel blessed to have experienced the music of Burton Lorne Cummings. Your life's work is meanin so much to all of us. Keep rockin, old man! You couldn't be square if you tried!!! ..... Species Hawk (Glenn)

hose of us who were at the CNE in Aug were lucky enough to hear Burton do that for the first time- knocked me on my @$$. Wayne from TO, Rhapsody, Donna B., Dom (DOAC) I was so glad he did it again in Winnipeg' I told Moonbean Maker "Oh wow, he's going to do that song we were talking about after the CNE .listen, this is great-you're gonna love it" I love it, it's so bluesy. So perfectly Burton's "style"

I'm a new fan, but nothing has moved me like this man's music. I can't believe I managed to miss hearing it before. (One of the drawbacks of living in the states? I know, it's no excuse.) The years wasted! Now I can't get enough of it. Whatever frequency his music broadcasts on is where my spirit is tuned. I know I haven't been a fan for as long as all of you, but have mercy! When you talk about his version of "Mack the Knife" think about those of us who can only try to imagine what it sounds like. I can't wait for the tour!

I have this one done by Rosemary Clooney with the Count Basie Orchestra -- It's a great song, and Burton does a wonderful job on it.

In an era when so many "superstars" care little about their fans, Burton is one of the most generous and most giving performers there is. He also seems to enjoy performing so much, and that makes it such a pleasure to watch and listen to.

I'm anxiously awaiting my copy of "For The Fans" and am thrilled to hear that "Mack The Knife" is on it. The first time I saw Burton solo was at The Front Row Theatre in Highland Heights, Ohio around 1976. It was theatre in the round with a revolving stage and Burton made a few cracks about the effects of rotating. That night he did, among other gems, "Mack The Knife" and "Sona Sona". I was sitting in the front row (I still don't know how I was lucky enough to score those seats!) and got some cool photos that evening. Definitely a night to remember!

Now if you feel like sharing those and you can have them scanned and e-mail them to me, I can put them in the Photopoint album with all the other Burton pics. Although it's kinda full- I'll just have to make another album and call it Burton Pics pt 2.

I have a scanner and can do just that. I'll have to find the pictures first among my hoard of semi-useless but entirely meaningful collection of odds 'n' ends.
