Subject: Uninvited Guest

Kit stepped off the sidewalk and passed through the entrance to Cyber Park. All around bots rested on wooden benches, splashed in the stream, relaxed under the shade of a tree, or basked in the warmth of an open meadow. She drew in a deep breath and sighed. The air is so much cleaner here, she noted as her olfactory processors analyzed the chemicals in her intake. She stepped off the path, out of the way of passers-by, and transformed to fox mode.

She returned to the path and walked slowly, sometimes getting passed by joggers. Her head turned this way and that admiring the various flora. She buried her nose in a rather large pink flower and sniffed. Beautiful..

Suddenly feeling playful and full of energy, Kit took off down the path. She left in her wake many of the joggers who had passed her earlier. Trees and flowers seemed to blurr together as she zoomed by them. She sprang into the air and landed on a low branch. She jumped to the next higher branch and lay down, her legs hanging down straddling it. She panted, and her sides heaved in and out. She looked around below her. A group of benches, only one occupied. The two loungers faced the opposite direction and hadn't noticed her acrobatics.

"-tell you. Prepare to be amazed, Alex."

"..Alex..where have I heard that name before..," she whispered to herself. She raised her ears and tried to slow her breathing, hoping to hear the rest of the conversation. She moved her head to look around a clump of leaves. Her eyes widened at her discovery. One of the Councilors! Orbital, I think? She rested her head on the branch and listened intently.
