Sounds like the infamous valve stem seal problem, which means you'll need to get the gaskets replaced. Very common on the early Diamantes, and depending on the condition and mileage of your car you may prefer to just use the smoke stop - which previous forum posters have suggested helped, but is not actually going to fix the problem in any way.
