Subject: Rux 'n' Jam! New char! (I'm getting too many again.... oh whell. I like this species. *G*)

~*~Individual!~*~
Name~ Rainer
Appearance~ She's a tall, well-built Tuatha, standing at about 4 1/2 feet and probably going to reach 5 when grown. She's average for her species, and has three tail blades - two on top and one on bottom. Living in forested mountains, her hide isn't as brightly colored as some. Mostly, she's a deep navy blue, with a lighter blue underbelly and pale blue mane and tufts, with her eyes gold as usual.
Personality~ She's curious and inventive, liking to explore and hunt. She's friendly and social, although she can be quite competitive. She likes to learn and loves to run, like all her species. The rest, you'll have to learn on your own.
Age~ not quite grown - like 4/5 grown
Gender~ female
Species' Name~ Well, on their planet they're just called Runners, but for Terole? Tuatha

~*~Species!~*~
Species' Name~ Tuatha
Height at the Shoulder~ 3-6 feet, depends on the 'breed'
Species' Colors~ Depends on the 'breed' - see descrip. Their eyes are always gold.
Temperment~ Varied greatly, but in general, friendly and light-hearted, honoring nature and all life as is, and not trying to change it all to suit themselves. However, most have strong competitive and protective streaks in them, and some clans are constantly fighting one another for various reasons. They do tend to hold grudges and take sides in an arguement quickly, instead of seeing both points. They're also fierce warriors.
Species' Description~ Ooooooh, this'll be hard. They're quadrupeds, long-legged and muscular. Their limbs are very flexible and end in long-toed paws, each tipped in a sharp, heavy claw which is retractable. Three toes and a semi-opposable toe on their forepaws, and then four normal toes on the back. Where a dog's dewclaw would be, they have a sharp claw as well, but it's hidden in a long tuft of fur. Their torso's are almost canine, with the sculpted chest and narrow waist, except their build is such that it's very, very strong and flexible. They have long, prehensile tails, as long as themselves, which end in none to five blades. The blades are arranged, scythe-shaped, by three on the upper side of the tail, and two below - or any combination. (See... diagram.... lol)
__/__/__/_

Five blades is the most, and some don't have any blades. All blades are sharp on both sides. Their heads are a mix between big cat and wolf - long muzzle, but heavy-jawed like a big cat is. Their senses of smell are excellent. There is some differences in gender, however. The males have small, nubby antlers that grow (only a few inches) right on the insides of their ear, which hampers their hearing, but they have really keen eyesight. Females, however, have manes of varying length, and rely more on hearing than sight. (Both down-played senses are about as good as a big cat or wolf might have.) Size, colors, and markings is completely dependant on where they live - for the plains, they're generally a light green or silver color, with few markings - for forests, they're generally darker blues and purples, with various small markings of lighter or darker colors - in the mountains, they're brown, dark red, or black with little markings - the rare ones that live in very cold arctic climes are usually pale yellow, silver, or white, with darker markings - and the few that live in desert-like places tend to be orangish, red, or white with few markings. Sizes depend not so much on the climate and habitat, but on the amounts of food available... which brings me to another point. Unlike most creatures, the Tuatha (never 'Tuathas', always 'the Tuatha') can't go nearly as long without food or rest as many. A fully mature adult can go without food and rest for about five days before either sickening drastically or collapsing, and without water for about ten. Anything past toddler age to young adult cannot go far past a day without food, and barely make two days without sleep, but can do 3 or 4 days without water. The Tuatha share their planet with two other sentient species, both smaller (and just small) in population. Casually, they are the Fishers and the Hunters. The Fishers are a large, lynx-like species who adore the water and eat only fish. They're solitary, and the only bunch of the three that can swim very well, and they worship the Water Deities, an extended pantheon that includes the great Seas of their planet - even though the Fishers never fish or swim in the Seas. The other species, the Hunters, are a burly, rowdy canine group, heavy-jawed and heavily muscled, usually living in mated pairs. They tend to be nastier in disposition than the quiet Fishers or playful Runners, but the three species still get along quite well. Runners - the Tuatha - are remarkable mostly for their speed and endurance. They can run up to 200 mph, and keep up like speeds for days, if need be. They don't swim too well, and live in clans, as mentioned before. They're very social creatures, although some prefer a solitary life, but they usually hunt alone or in pairs. They, unlike the godless Hunters and Water-worshipping Fishers, greet Nature and all within it as a whole, and consider themselves only a part of it. Considering their species is relatively small in population, most of the Tuatha see Nature as beneficial, allowing them to live alongside of their planet in peace. Unlike Fishers and Hunters, who can only handle fish and meat, Runners are omnivores, and able to eat anything from bark, to avians, to fish, to fruit and vegetables. Some of the larger clans even have small farming areas, where they grow food, but more common are fanciful, well-tended gardens. Getting their food from such a wide variety of resources ensures a varied diet for the Tuatha and also ensures that they aren't putting much of a dent in their food supplies. A rarely explored aspect of the Tuatha is their fighting ability - unless hunting or fighting another clan, they never use their skill. Not even the Hunters are willing to fight them, though, so that says something about their somewhat-obscure ability.

Okay, I *think* that's all for the species. I might be adding things later - I only made these up last night, you know. ;)
