This is, of course, speaking in generalities...but here in the slums it proved to be the case. In a reality where people died on a daily basis, where sickness and disease was just on the next sunrise, where one wondered where the day's dinner would come from, where energy-prostitution sucked the very urge to live from a person...many sought a better place.

Some looked at drugs. Some looked at perversions. Some dedicated time to the illegal. And some, a few, looked to religion.

Religion lifted the burdened spark. Religion released the light out of the darkness. Religion was a way for these poor denizens of the dark to be translated to the glorious kingdom of light...and they would not have to leave their makeshift homes.

Some religion had touched this place, but as of yet, not much. There were some who believed in an all-powerfull being. There were some who feared the Destroyer. There were others who prayed to only themselves. There were a few who called out to an eternal God, not for food or money, but forgiveness for their burden of sins. But not many, and definitely not the majority.

This place was like a forest with millions of dry leaves on it's flooring, waiting for a spark to ignite it...
