Though my reasons for shunning the petition may be slightly different from the ones he described, I think we're pretty much in the same boat.

Why remake FFVII? I haven't the foggiest idea. I don't even know why this petition was started. Let's face it, FFVII's 3D graphics are a far cry from the old pixellated cartridge days of the SNES. When they came out, they were breath-taking! Smooth, flowing graphics with high quality video and sound, even better so on the PC. Why would this need to be remade?

I love Final Fantasy VII, every aspect of it. I just can't understand why you'd want this game remade. Humour me for a moment;

If you truly loved the game, why remake it? You'd obviously love it for what it was, not what it COULD have been.

If you don't love it, and just want to see it changed because you don't like how it turned out, just leave it, you'd be spoiling the reputations of millions of happy gamers.

Aeris's death really came as a shock to everyone who played, and that's the beauty of it. Final Fantasy VII is a game that revolves around Life and Death, the creator of the game stated that Aeris was killed to make the player feel the bitter sting of loss, like he had when his mother had died not long before he started the project. Aeris died to prove a point, that even after the extinction of hope, humanity could still fight and win. And what better way to boost the intense cruelty that the villain can show than to kill one of your favourite party members without a second of remorse? Now, I don't see Aeris' death as necessary, but if the game hadn't gone to those lengths to create the realistic feeling of pain and suffering of loss, I doubt I'd have loved it so much.

All I ask is that you take a moment to think about why you want this game remade, then think it over again. To completely change the game's storyline would destroy it, make it an abomination to everyone who enjoyed it the way it is.
