Konichiwa.

I've been meaning to type up something after my return from Japan about two weeks ago, so here goes.

I spent about 4 days in beautiful Tokyo, Japan, testing Crave's game out of the Dream Factory offices. Does the name "Dream Factory" ring a bell? It should. They were the development group that worked with Square on the Tobol series, Ehrgeiz, and The Bouncer. Needless to say, I held my tongue concerning The Bouncer, and did my job on UFC ("Ultimate Fighting Championship" for the Xbox). I didn't get much time to see the sights. Most of it was spent sitting in my hotel room watching Japanese TV whilst waiting for a call to tell me when I needed to go over to Dream Factory's offices. I did manage to sneak in about 4-5 hours on Sunday and thus got to see the Shibuya district. I saw the arcade Dog-walking simulator (but didn't have the guts to play it in public), and played a ton of other games I'm sure will never see the light of day on U.S. shores (Photobattler?). Overall, the trip was pretty cool. Next time I go to Japan, I hope I have more time to see some sights and have some friends along for the ride since it was me by my lonesome in the big city (no friends nor co-workers). I also hope I understand a bit more Japanese... ^_^

In other news, I've been playing a lot of FFX and MGS2. I've found Metal Gear 2 to be agonizing to play. The protagonist is uninteresting, the dialogue terrible, and Jack and Rose annoying as Hell. The game is a rental at best. I'm sorry I bought it. FFX on the other hand? *gasp* I'm actually enjoying it. The battle system is incredible (switching back-up characters into active duty on the fly is awesome!), the sphere grid is my new favorite FF system (beating out the FFV job system), and the characters aren't annoying! The story takes a little to get back on its feet (after an incredible 30 minute start), but seems to be moving along pretty well now. Unlike the team's last effort (FFVIII), I was sure that I'd hate this game. Now that I'm about 30 hours in, I'm glad I was wrong. If you have a PS2, buy this game. It'll tide you over till Suikoden III shows up on store shelves.

Not much else to say. Hope everyone is well. Ciao for the now.

- Aaron (is Vegas-bound in five days)
