Really, I've found that the newer games surpass the old ones. THe games started getting better towards the middle of the PSX's lifespan ex. FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFT, FFanthology, Vagrant Story, Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve 1 + 2, Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 3, Breath of Fire III, Breath of Fire IV, Xenogears, and Chrono Cross. THis is just the list of games I own, there are still many more out there that are good ex Gran Turismo, Driver. Although I will have to admit that the N64 had better multiplayer abilities, although i've only multiplayed with it at least 10x in my entire life. All my friends had an N64 but they sold it, due to the lack of good games, and bought a PSX. Unless you are playing a computer game the single player mode is much more important than the multiplayer mode. The biggest mistake Nintendo ever made was staying with the cartrage, it may of improved the graphics but it really limited the storage space. Thus it was not very friendly to RPG's.
