After one week in Paris, I've seen quite a lot of buskers in the metro - and after seeing so many, I've come to think of busking as an art. You may be playing for money, but it adds a nice touch to the long and ardous 45 minute metro voyage to class.

FACT OF THE DAY - Did you know that the French government holds auditions for buskers? It's true! The buskers audition for authorization to play in the Metro (Therefore, if you're a crappy musician, you can't busk for money) and then the buskers are assigned to different areas. This is to make sure that no two buskers will fight over who was in the Place des Vosges or the station at Montparnasse first. Quite civilized, don't you think?

I wonder - if I go broke in college, should I try to make money by busking? :-)
