Yes, Squall was irritating as hell. What really ticked me off was the way he treated Quistis and Rinoa .... which varied from cold to just plain mean. Remember that scene where Quistis and Squall were in that place beyond the training room, right after the SeeD-induction ball? You could almost hear poor Quistis' heart breaking. Rinoa practically throws herself at him, but even after he starts acting like less of a bastard to him, he still acts like an idiot. Like the time on the Ragnarok when he would not even give her a freaking hug! Was I the only one who idly wondered at some point in the game if Squall might be gay?

Laguna on the other hand, was pretty cool. They overdid it with him just a little, but he was an interesting, likeable, and often amusing character. Ward and Kiros were good characters too, for what little time you saw them. It's really a shame that you don't get more time to play as Laguna. Of course, it's also a shame that they didn't make Laguna the main hero instead of Squall.
