Subject: Squaresoft advertising revenue?

Recently I have startted playing Parasite Eve 2, one of Squaresoft's games released in late 2000 I think. (Anyone played it by the way? What do you think about it?)

I am about 10.5 hours into the game and I have noticed something. Everytime you want to save in the game it is done by going up to a telephone and calling back to your main office. In the background of the save game screen you can see the telephone that you are using in plain view. On most of the telephones you can see the name of the company clearly printed on top, "Asteroid Bell". Although I have never heard of this company before I am assuming that it exsists. Did Squaresoft make some kind of a deal with this company that if they advertise their phones in the game then Squaresoft will collect some money on this?

The same think applies for Coca-Cola. I know that a few months back Squaresoft had made a deal with Coca-Cola by putting the main character of FFIX chasing a Coca-Cola bottle cap or something like that. (I never saw the commercial since for all I know it was never brought out to North America). Playing Parasite Eve 2 I have noticed numerous advertisments for Coca-Cola throughout a town that you spend most of your time in. I have counted about three Coca-Cola machines so far. These logos aren't just in the background either, some of them are key items. If you open up a few refridgerators you can actually get a can of Coca-Cola that restores 20HP and 50MP, I have got about five cans total so far. Plus there is one point where you have to get this key out of an air vent but Aya, the main character, can't reach it. So you need to get a magnet in order to get it out. I looked around the town for about five min and finally found one, a small novelty bottlecap magnet for you guessed it, Coca-Cola.

I'm just wondering if squaresoft gets any money out of this frequent advertising for other companies? However this game is set is the present so Squaresoft could just be going for realism. Does anyone have any information on this subject?
