Hi Deb

Greens are an important part of a rabbits diet and should certainly not be considered candy. There are a number of people now that feed their buns on pellet free diets with no adverse affects. If he is not fussy about pellets, then you need to fill him up on hay and greens, which he obviously enjoys. At 2lbs he is probably about right for a Netherland, they are only tiny rabbits. There is a good source of information here

<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html">http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html</a>

that includes a link to suggested vegetables. As an example my buns get, each night: dark leaf lettuce, cos lettuce, endive, watercress, baby dutch carrot, bok choy, basil, mint, continental parsley, sage, rocket, snow pea sprouts, snow pea pods, celery and a little fruit...usually one green apple divided between 8 of them. Since it would be hard to make such a mix into the (approx) cup of vegies he would need a day, you can make a mix of any 3. This can be varied on a daily basis to ensure he gets all the good things he needs. However, remember, if he's not eating pellets he will need an increased amount of vegies, so don't be too caught up in the so many cups per pound of body weight. As long as he's finishing what you put out for him and he's not getting fat, let him decide what's right for him.

Melony
