Hi,
In my opinion Oaten hay is best. Rabbits love
nothing better than
nice fresh oaten hay (not too old and dusty from
storage). Lucerne hay may lead to health problems long term
if given too often. Long unsprayed grass (no chemicals
on the grass and not grass from areas frequented by poultry of other birds) is also excellent
for rabbits (not Kikuyu though). My rabbits love Winter grass in Winter and buffalo grass and thistle weeds etc.

If your rabbit is older and unused to hay, why not stick to what he likes? Long grass may be more palatable to him
and try carrot, apples (no pips), celery leaves and some celery stalk, etc. and the occassional broccoli leaf.

Kind regards,
Marguerite
