Dear Sue,
I'm sure your bunny has chewed through a lot by now!
My sister in NY gave me some apple branches (no insecticides at all) to give to my bunnie when we got her. SHE LOVED THEM! Especially the leaves. Some reading I've done indicates that you have to "dry out" the branches first, but I don't know. I di not do that because I hadn't read THAT FAR at the time and was most interested in luring Wilbur with the leafy branch into her Bunny House for the night at that point.

BE very WARY of the type of branch you give your bunny because some are totally poisonous...check out the House Rabbit Handbook and the www.rabbit.org for more info.

Now that it is December and the October apple branches have dried, she doesn't really chew on the ones we saved for her that much. I gave her a Timothy Cube (see BusyBunny.com) which she liked for a while, and now I am ordering the willow basket because I caught her trying to eat my laundry basket of the same material but unknown origin recently. I will be doing more research on the stuff Busy Bunny is sending in the basket because I am not sure about giving her pinecones, and I definitely WILL NOT give her peanuts. As far as I have read and been told, nuts and seed are a NO NO as they can pose serious GI problems.

One more thing, I try to give Wilbur 1 semi-hard veggie per day to help her teeth. Ex. cucumber (she likes them best without the skin or if it's organic and I clean it well, I leave it "striped"), carrot, bok choy, celery, or a little broccoli.
Good luck.
