Subject: I have two rabbits-

My female rabbit is 3 years old and my male rabbit is 8 months. Three weeks ago I had the male neutered. I've tried re-introducing them in neutral territory in the hopes that they can eventually be housed together.

They are very interested in one another but after 10-15 min together he mounts her. Then she tries to mount him- only when Skittles (the female) mounts Newman, she bites his back. I pulled her off of him but she wouldn't let go.

Is this normal? Are they just trying to assert dominance over one another? How long can I expect this behavior to last?

Also, do female rabbits have certain times during the year when they go into heat or are they receptive to mating year-round?
Thanks!
