Subject: Need Help!!! Raising a baby bun!

I'm desperate! I have a 12 week old Flemish giant, and he's acting out. I am not sure he was hand-raised. I purchased the 2nd level to his bunny abode and he's been ripping up and chewing the carpet on the ramp. I have no idea why he's doing this because he has plenty of pellets and hay and tons of toys, and I feed him fresh veggies 2-3 times a day.

Also, because I don't think he was truly hand-raised, he's hard to handle. I've been trying to work with him several times throughout the day, and I let him out to run and play for 2-4 hours a day. But when I pick him up, he doesn't kick. I hold him to my chest and he acts like he is trying to get away from a mad dog and climbs up my chest and claws his way to my shoulders. So, I position him on his back, and he's fine for a few minutes. Then, all of a sudden, he just goes crazy and is trying to get up. I get him positioned again and he is fine again for a few minutes. This cycle repeats until I give up and set him down. In the process of putting him down, he kicks furiously and I have no clue why. I have my hands on him securely as several of my books tell me to handle him, and yet he still kicks and claws me. My arms look like I tried to bathe a cat!!!

I really need some good advice. This is my first house rabbit. I've had outdoor rabbits when I was a lot younger, but they were never this difficult! I love my little Harvey, but he's ripping my hands and arms to shreds, along with his carpeted ramp!!!

Thanks for your time and help!
Amber
