WARNING ABOUT INTERNATIONAL MISS -- TINA GILL, 07:13:59 04/12/06 Wed
As a Mom, I'm appalled at some of the pageant systems and the things they do. My daughter used to compete in INTERNATIONAL MISS. Unfortunately, we weren't happy with the NATIONAL OWERS, and the Texas Director, Doug Conn, started his own system, Today's Girl, so we're competing with him. I have friends that were National Reigning Royalty for International Miss. These girls were from Texas and won National Crowns. No where in the national paperwork does it say that these girls could not compete in another system, So the girls from Texas competed in a Today's Girl preliminary. International Miss airbrushed their pictures from the Official National Winner photo on their website (www.internationalmiss.com go check it out you will see two girls missing) Can you believe it? I would understand if these girls were told not to compete in other systems, but I have seen their paperwork and there is NOTHING that says National Queens cannot compete in other systems. International Miss did not even call the Moms and tell them they were doing it. I guess the next thing they will do is come take their crowns away and not let them give up their crowns at Nationals this year. But just wait there is more...INTERNATIONAL MISS LET TWO REGINING STATE QUEENS COMPETE IN ANOTHER STATE PAGEANT.."HANNAH" BALIEE STANFORD AND BREC BASSINGER In Stars over Texas, now why is it that the so called rules don't apply to these girls? (these are girls that choose to say with International Miss) I think that the National Owners are upset because Doug Conn was so successful for them and left them without any contestants in Texas, but instead of just moving on and trying to rebuild their system, they're punishing these little girls. I, for one, will NEVER put my daughter in another International Miss pageant unless better, more decent owners take over the system. It is shameful to treat little girls that way. International Miss cares only about the money, not about the girls! At this point I think the Better Business Bureau needs to be involed. I just wanted to warn everyone what kind of people these people are!!

Two things: 1. Doug Conn is as bad as the International Miss people. Time will tell. 2. Get your own board like Cinderella has. (NT) -- just a little helpful insight, 06:38:02 04/12/06 Wed

Doug Conn just as bad? -- Tina Gill, 06:46:46 04/12/06 Wed
I DO appriciate the heads-up... We were considering doing their state pageant. We went to a prelim, but were the ONLY contestant there... They also DO have a message board- http://www.voy.com/200218/ Just for those who Didn't know- better inform yourself before making some comments. AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN- THANK YOU FOR POSTING INFORMATION ABOUT A PAGEANT BEING HELD HERE IN TEXAS ON THE TEXAS PAGEANT MESSAGE BOARD- IT HAS BEEN HELPFUL TO ME !!!! (NT) -- Nicole, 06:57:43 04/12/06 Wed
I just went to the site and can not believe that directors can do such a thing to little girls. My dd will never compete in this system. (NT) -- But you might like to try Our Little Miss, National American Miss, and American Coed Miss. all great natural systems., 06:40:34 04/12/06 Wed
hahaha!! What the heck are you talking about? The only person upset with Doug Conn are the people who write him bad checks!! And his directors bad checks...you know who you are! (NT) -- pm, 06:40:40 04/12/06 Wed
ttt (NT) -- nn, 06:53:55 04/12/06 Wed
I don't know who "Nicole" is but it is absolutely FALSE that an International Miss prelim only had ONE contestant. We have had FIVE prelims this Spring and all have had between 5 and 13 contestants. Nicole, please do not post false statements about our prelims! (NT) -- East Texas Director, 07:07:32 04/12/06 Wed
Maybe Nicole meant she was the only contestant in her division. The point is not how many people are there, its what the National directors are doing to Texas girls (NT) -- someone who knows, 07:13:59 04/12/06 Wed

My granddaughter has been in Internation Miss for 9 years. I have had my ups and downs, she has won and she has lost. However she loves the system and will not even consider leaving. She has poise and confidence and winning is not what she goes for. She goes for the friendships, the love of entertaining she does. If you have the right attitude your child will receive from the pageant system what it is meant for. Confidence, charter building. self esteem and a knowledge of life that things come and go , you win and you lose but by being true to yourself you always win. Yes the girls and the mothers knew they were not to enter "competive pageants",especially the one they entered. I have always liked Doug and still do. I do not blame him for startin his own business. Yes that is what pageants are, a business. I wish he had not allowed the girls who are queens to be in his system this year and maybe we would not be having this split amoung friends. I've been there. It is not a good place to be. Saying that we have no girls in Texas is untruthful. The directors are doing a great job in Texas. Their board is great and the girld seem to be having fun. I wish Doug and all my friends in Texas the best. I will miss you and Doug. Lets drop this and enjoy our differt systems. By the way we have not made the top ten lately, so I am not a winner just promoting my system. Win or lose my granddaughter loves it. Take a lesson from a 10 year old and just have fun. Life is too short and our children will be grown before we know it. Good luck and may God bless allof us.
